Catterall House is situated on the A6, within easy reach of Garstang and Preston. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere here will certainly impress, and you can rest assured that we provide the highest standard of care 24 hours a day.

Our residents are encouraged to lead an independent life, in a genuinely caring and supportive environment. We believe in a holistic approach to care, and each resident is cared for as their individual needs dictate.

Bedrooms

We have twenty-four rooms here at Catterall House, and each is equipped with a nurse-call system, television aerial points, double glazed windows and central heating. Seventeen of the rooms have en-suite facilities. We have two bath hoists which, combined with the attention of our experienced staff, making bathing a pleasurable experience for our residents.

A passenger lift affords direct access to the first floor, and spacious corridors allows easy, unrestricted movements throughout the Home.

The Home

The Home has three lounges (including a smoking lounge), each of which has several comfortable chairs and sofas and is equipped with a television. There is also a conservatory, and a dining room with a patio area overlooking the large back garden. Obviously, the Home is also fully equipped with fire alarms and an emergency lighting system.

Daily activities are planned, and our residents are encourage to participate. Sometimes we also arrange entertainers and day trips out.

Food

Good food is, of course, an important part of life for all of us. Here at Catterall House we provide a high standard of freshly prepared, home cooked, tasty and nutritious meals. Our chef can cater to specific dietary requirements if necessary, and we welcome suggestions from our residents as to what to include in our menus. Most of our residents prefer to have their meals in our comfortable and spacious dining room, but it's no problem to provide meals in people's rooms if desired.

Services

We have a regular visiting library which provides a large range of fiction and non-fiction, for those residents who enjoy sitting down with a good book!

We have a great deal of respect for the spiritual needs of our residents, and we have a small chapel within the home in which residents can enjoy quiet contemplation or attend private services held by visiting clergy.

Residents can have their own doctor attend to them, or we can register them with a local GP - whichever is more convenient. We also have chiropodists, hairdressers, physiotherapists and district nurses who visit the home on a regular basis.

Other Information

We provide care for residents funded privately and those funded by Social Services. If you are unsure, we will be happy to advise you about your basic funding arrangements.

At Catterall House we cater for long and short stays, as well as providing respite and holiday relief care. We can also arrange stays on a trial basis, if required.

We have no restrictions on visiting times, as we understand the importance of spending quality time with loved ones. The residents and staff would appreciate it if friends and family could refrain from visiting during meal times (unless, of course, they would like to eat with their loved one). We encourage relatives and friends to get involved as much as they can with the care of their loved one.

Our staff are our most important asset, and their highest priority is the well-being of our residents. Our care-manager offers visits to residents who have returned home after their short stay with us. These visits are free of charge, and their purpose is just to have a friendly chat and see how they are settling back into their own home.
